Before the first piece of big machinery made its way to the Mangrove Cay site, Rosalind Martin had her eye on a new home. Martin was one of many prospective home buyers to stop by a grand opening event more than two years ago, long before construction began, and was one of the first homebuyers to commit to the project. In December, she also became the first new resident of Mangrove Cay and she couldnít be happier.
Martin says that she and her sisters have been investing in real estate in the area for years and when she got wind of Mangrove Cayís building plans and location, she knew she had found a place she wanted to buy for herself.
One welcomed obstacle Martin has had to overcome is getting used to the spectacular views from her beautiful two-bedroom two-bath home. ìThe first few days, I could hardly get anything organized because I was looking out the window,î Martin says. Martinís new neighbor, Lee Bria, isalso impressed with the views. There are windows or sliding glass doors in all the living areas and she says on a clear day, she can see the Howard Frankland Bridge. Lee and her husband, Dr. William Bria, moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan and are quickly getting accustomed to the warm climate and abundance of nature surrounding their new home. They were attracted to Mangrove Cay by the magnificent water views and the nice breeze they felt coming off the water.

Since they moved in last month, the couple has been taking advantage of the outdoor activities close by, including kayaking at the Weedon Island Preserve just across Gandy Blvd. from Mangrove Cay and taking long walks. Among Leeís new favorite pastimes is watching the birds, particularly the beautiful roseate spoonbills that live in the 33 acres of wetlands that surround the property. Although sheís still getting unpacked, Lee is looking forward to decorating her new home, a spacious three-bedroom, three-bath residence. Impressed by the look of the common areas designed by Judy Miller of Limited Edition Interiors, Lee is working with the firm to choose paint colors and add some unique pieces of furniture to what they currently own. Despite downsizing from a large Midwestern home with a basement, Lee is very happy with the layout of her sizable 2,384 sq. ft. home. |
